Independent Woman - Destiny's Child(music video)

Description
"Independent Women (Part I)" is an R&B song written by American singer-songwriter Beyoncé Knowles, Sam Barnes, Jen-Claude Olivier, and Cory Rooney for Destiny Child's third studio album, Survivor (2001), only considered as a bonus track. It was produced by Knowles, Rooney, and Poke & Tone and first appeared on the soundtrack to the film Charlie's Angels. Released as both the soundtrack's and album's first single in fall 2000, the song held the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for eleven consecutive weeks from November 2000 to February 2001. Although, for the United Kingdom, it was released on the same day, with both Part I and Part II counting as the song release.

Lyrics
Lucy Liu... with my girl, Drew... Cameron D. and Destiny
Charlie's Angels, Come on
Uh uh uh

Question: Tell me what you think about me
I buy my own diamonds and I buy my own rings
Only ring your cell-y when I'm feelin lonely
When it's all over please get up and leave
Question: Tell me how you feel about this
Try to control me boy you get dismissed
Pay my own fun, oh and I pay my own bills
Always 50/50 in relationships

The shoes on my feet
I've bought it
The clothes I'm wearing
I've bought it
The rock I'm rockin'
'Cause I depend on me
If I wanted the watch you're wearin'
I'll buy it
The house I live in
I've bought it
The car I'm driving
I've bought it
I depend on me
(I depend on me)

All the women who are independent
Throw your hands up at me
All the honeys who makin' money
Throw your hands up at me
All the mommas who profit dollas
Throw your hands up at me
All the ladies who truly feel me
Throw your hands up at me

Girl I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that
Girl I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that

Tell me how you feel about this
Do what I want live how I wanna live
I worked hard and sacrificed to get what I get
Ladies, it ain't easy bein' independent
Question: How'd you like this knowledge that I brought
Braggin' on that cash that he gave you is a front
If you're gonna brag make sure it's your money you flaunt
Depend on no one else to give you what you want

The shoes on my feet
I've bought it
The clothes I'm wearing
I've bought it
The rock I'm rockin'
'Cause I depend on me
If I wanted the watch you're wearin'
I'll buy it
The house I live in
I've bought it
The car I'm driving
I've bought it
I depend on me
(I depend on me)

All the women who are independent
Throw your hands up at me
All the honeys who makin' money
Throw your hands up at me
All the mommas who profit dollas
Throw your hands up at me
All the ladies who truly feel me
Throw your hands up at me

Girl I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that
Girl I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that

Destiny's Child
Wassup?
You in the house?
Sure 'nuff
We'll break these people off Angel style

Child of Destiny
Independent beauty
Noone else takes care of me
Charlie's Angels

Woah
All the women who are independent
Throw your hands up at me
All the honeys who makin' money
Throw your hands up at me
All the mommas who profit dollas
Throw your hands up at me
All the ladies who truly feel me
Throw your hands up at me

Girl I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that
[repeat until fade]

Destiny's Child - Say My Name(music video)

Description
When the "Say My Name" music video debuted on February 15, 2000, audiences were shocked to see the absence of Letoya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson, who had been replaced by Farrah Franklin and Michelle Williams. The video featured Franklin and Williams alongside Beyoncé Knowles and Kelly Rowland, and debuted on MTV and BET at the same time a press release announcing the lineup change was released.

The video featured the veterans and the rookie members along with two female dancers and one male dancer each in different colored rooms that were designed to look like living rooms in an apartment. Beyonce was featured in orange clothes to match her equally orange room. Kelly was in a blue room, newcomer Farrah was featured in a red room and Michelle was in a white room. The original video idea had more choreography in it but due to the abrupt group change the new girls were unable to dance in stiletto heels like their veteran counterparts. Instead the directors had the girls sit and stand in various positions around their rooms and pose with the beat of the song. After the first verse and the chorus the girls switched rooms but kept their respective color couches and clothes. Soon after the second verse during the "break down", Beyonce, Kelly, Michelle and Farrah all gathered in a garage-like room that was complete with cars and Destiny's Child in black leather pants and orange tops and all of the dancers, dressed in black, from the video. The dancers did a rotating dance which later became part of the live routine until their comeback in 2005. After this scene it was back to the colorful rooms in which the girls had now switched couches and continued the song until the end of the video where the final pose was back in the garage.

Lyrics
(Chorus A)

Say my name, say my name
If no one is around you, say "baby I love you"
If you ain't runnin' game
Say my name, say my name
You actin' kinda shady
Ain't callin me baby
Why the sudden change?
Say my name, say my name
If no one is around you, say "baby I love you"
If you ain't runnin' game
Say my name, say my name
You actin' kinda shady
Ain't callin me baby
Better say my name

Any other day I would call, you would say
"Baby how's your day?"
But today it ain't the same
Every other word is uh huh, yea okay
Could it be that you are at the crib with another lady?
If you took it there, first of all, let me say
I am not the one to sit around and be played
So prove yourself to me
i'm the girl that you claim
Why don't you say the thangs
That you said to me yesterday?

(Chorus B)
I know you say that I am assuming things
Something's going down that's the way it seems
Shouldn't be the reason why you're acting strange
If nobody's holding you back from me
Cause I know how you usually do
When you say everything to me times two
Why can't you just tell the truth?
If somebody's there then tell me who

(Chorus A)

What's up with this?
Tell the truth, who you with
How would you like it if I came over with my clique
Don't try to change it now
Sayin' you gotta bounce
When two seconds ago, you said you just got in the house
It's hard to believe that you
are at home, by yourself
When I just heard the voice
Heard the voice of someone else
Just this question
Why do you feel you gotta lie?
Gettin' caught up in your game
When you can not say my name

(Chorus B)
(Chorus A)

(Where my ladies at) Yeah-yeah-yeah-yea-yeah
(Can you say that? C'mon) Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah
Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah
(All the girls say) Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah
(I can't hear ya) Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah
(All the ladies say) Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah..yeah
Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah
(All the girls say) Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah
Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah
Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah

(Break it down) Ohh ooohh oh ooh ohhhh
(D.C., take it to the bridge c'mon)

(Chorus B)
(Chorus A until fade)

Destiny's Child - Bills Bills Bills

Description
"Bills, Bills, Bills" was the first single from Destiny's Child's second album The Writing's on the Wall. It was their first song that peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It won a BMI Pop award for being the most played song. Before "Bills, Bills, Bills", the only top ten single the group had achieved was "No, No, No Pt. 2". Despite the success of the single, many of the listeners questioned the topic - people viewed the lyrics as male bashing[citation needed]; in the song men are referred to as "triflin'" and "good for nothin'". However, Destiny's Child quickly quashed these rumors and expressed that their lyrics were meant to be empowering for women[citation needed].

"Bills, Bills, Bills" debuted at #84 on the Hot 100 and climbed to #1 five weeks later, where it remained for a week and spent a total of twenty weeks on the chart.

"Bills, Bills, Bills" also reached number one on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks for nine consecutive weeks making it one of the longest running number one singles ever on this chart and the most weeks at the summit in 1999. It was also the ninth best-selling single of the year in the U.S.

In the UK "Bills, Bills, Bills" peaked at number six and went onto sell over 165,000 copies.

The music video for "Bills, Bills, Bills" (directed by Darren Grant) was shot in a beauty salon, a tribute to Tina Knowles, group member Beyoncé Knowles' mother. Another interesting fact was that it marked the first of three videos in which Farrah Franklin was part of (although she played a minor role of a salon client).

"Bills, Bills, Bills" was written by the same songwriter as TLC's hit "No Scrubs", Kandi Burruss. hip hop group Sporty Thievz famously recorded a rebuttal to this TLC hit entitled "No Pigeons" and would later go on to record a rebuttal to "Bills Bills Bills", entitled "No Billz (Why, Why, Why)". Not only that, Sporty Thievz along with a female rapper known as Jazz were featured on the main remix of Bills, Bills, Bills produced by the Trackmasters.

Lyrics
At first we started out real cool,(cool)
Taking me places i ain'tnever been
But now your getting comfortable
Ain't doing those things that you did no more
Your slowly makin me pay for things
Your money should be handling

And now you ask to use my car (car)
Drive it all day and don't fill up the tank
And you have the audacity
To even come and step to me
And ask to hold some money from me
Until you get your check next week
(bridge)
You triflin',good for nothing type of brother
Silly me,why haven't I found another
A baller, when times get hard he's the one to help me out
insted of, a scrub like you who don't know what a man's about

(chorus2x)
can
you pay my bills
can you pay my telephone bills
can you pay my automo'bills
then maybe we can chill
I don't think you do
so you and me are through

now you been maxing out my card(card)
give me bad credit, buying gifts with my own ends
haven't paid the first bill
but you steady heading to the mall
going on shopping sprees
peprpetrating to your friends that you be ballin'

and then you use my cell phone(phone)
callin who ever that you think at home
and when the bill comes all of a sudden you be acting dumb
don't know where none of these calls come from
when your mamma's numbers here more than once
