Description
"Independent Women (Part I)" is an R&B song written by American singer-songwriter Beyoncé Knowles, Sam Barnes, Jen-Claude Olivier, and Cory Rooney for Destiny Child's third studio album, Survivor (2001), only considered as a bonus track. It was produced by Knowles, Rooney, and Poke & Tone and first appeared on the soundtrack to the film Charlie's Angels. Released as both the soundtrack's and album's first single in fall 2000, the song held the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for eleven consecutive weeks from November 2000 to February 2001. Although, for the United Kingdom, it was released on the same day, with both Part I and Part II counting as the song release.
Lyrics
Lucy Liu... with my girl, Drew... Cameron D. and Destiny
Charlie's Angels, Come on
Uh uh uh
Question: Tell me what you think about me
I buy my own diamonds and I buy my own rings
Only ring your cell-y when I'm feelin lonely
When it's all over please get up and leave
Question: Tell me how you feel about this
Try to control me boy you get dismissed
Pay my own fun, oh and I pay my own bills
Always 50/50 in relationships
The shoes on my feet
I've bought it
The clothes I'm wearing
I've bought it
The rock I'm rockin'
'Cause I depend on me
If I wanted the watch you're wearin'
I'll buy it
The house I live in
I've bought it
The car I'm driving
I've bought it
I depend on me
(I depend on me)
All the women who are independent
Throw your hands up at me
All the honeys who makin' money
Throw your hands up at me
All the mommas who profit dollas
Throw your hands up at me
All the ladies who truly feel me
Throw your hands up at me
Girl I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that
Girl I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that
Tell me how you feel about this
Do what I want live how I wanna live
I worked hard and sacrificed to get what I get
Ladies, it ain't easy bein' independent
Question: How'd you like this knowledge that I brought
Braggin' on that cash that he gave you is a front
If you're gonna brag make sure it's your money you flaunt
Depend on no one else to give you what you want
The shoes on my feet
I've bought it
The clothes I'm wearing
I've bought it
The rock I'm rockin'
'Cause I depend on me
If I wanted the watch you're wearin'
I'll buy it
The house I live in
I've bought it
The car I'm driving
I've bought it
I depend on me
(I depend on me)
All the women who are independent
Throw your hands up at me
All the honeys who makin' money
Throw your hands up at me
All the mommas who profit dollas
Throw your hands up at me
All the ladies who truly feel me
Throw your hands up at me
Girl I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that
Girl I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that
Destiny's Child
Wassup?
You in the house?
Sure 'nuff
We'll break these people off Angel style
Child of Destiny
Independent beauty
Noone else takes care of me
Charlie's Angels
Woah
All the women who are independent
Throw your hands up at me
All the honeys who makin' money
Throw your hands up at me
All the mommas who profit dollas
Throw your hands up at me
All the ladies who truly feel me
Throw your hands up at me
Girl I didn't know you could get down like that
Charlie, how your Angels get down like that
[repeat until fade]

Destiny's Child - Say My Name(music video)
Description
When the "Say My Name" music video debuted on February 15, 2000, audiences were shocked to see the absence of Letoya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson, who had been replaced by Farrah Franklin and Michelle Williams. The video featured Franklin and Williams alongside Beyoncé Knowles and Kelly Rowland, and debuted on MTV and BET at the same time a press release announcing the lineup change was released.
The video featured the veterans and the rookie members along with two female dancers and one male dancer each in different colored rooms that were designed to look like living rooms in an apartment. Beyonce was featured in orange clothes to match her equally orange room. Kelly was in a blue room, newcomer Farrah was featured in a red room and Michelle was in a white room. The original video idea had more choreography in it but due to the abrupt group change the new girls were unable to dance in stiletto heels like their veteran counterparts. Instead the directors had the girls sit and stand in various positions around their rooms and pose with the beat of the song. After the first verse and the chorus the girls switched rooms but kept their respective color couches and clothes. Soon after the second verse during the "break down", Beyonce, Kelly, Michelle and Farrah all gathered in a garage-like room that was complete with cars and Destiny's Child in black leather pants and orange tops and all of the dancers, dressed in black, from the video. The dancers did a rotating dance which later became part of the live routine until their comeback in 2005. After this scene it was back to the colorful rooms in which the girls had now switched couches and continued the song until the end of the video where the final pose was back in the garage.
Lyrics
(Chorus A)
Say my name, say my name
If no one is around you, say "baby I love you"
If you ain't runnin' game
Say my name, say my name
You actin' kinda shady
Ain't callin me baby
Why the sudden change?
Say my name, say my name
If no one is around you, say "baby I love you"
If you ain't runnin' game
Say my name, say my name
You actin' kinda shady
Ain't callin me baby
Better say my name
Any other day I would call, you would say
"Baby how's your day?"
But today it ain't the same
Every other word is uh huh, yea okay
Could it be that you are at the crib with another lady?
If you took it there, first of all, let me say
I am not the one to sit around and be played
So prove yourself to me
i'm the girl that you claim
Why don't you say the thangs
That you said to me yesterday?
(Chorus B)
I know you say that I am assuming things
Something's going down that's the way it seems
Shouldn't be the reason why you're acting strange
If nobody's holding you back from me
Cause I know how you usually do
When you say everything to me times two
Why can't you just tell the truth?
If somebody's there then tell me who
(Chorus A)
What's up with this?
Tell the truth, who you with
How would you like it if I came over with my clique
Don't try to change it now
Sayin' you gotta bounce
When two seconds ago, you said you just got in the house
It's hard to believe that you
are at home, by yourself
When I just heard the voice
Heard the voice of someone else
Just this question
Why do you feel you gotta lie?
Gettin' caught up in your game
When you can not say my name
(Chorus B)
(Chorus A)
(Where my ladies at) Yeah-yeah-yeah-yea-yeah
(Can you say that? C'mon) Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah
Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah
(All the girls say) Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah
(I can't hear ya) Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah
(All the ladies say) Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah..yeah
Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah
(All the girls say) Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah
Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah
Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah
(Break it down) Ohh ooohh oh ooh ohhhh
(D.C., take it to the bridge c'mon)
(Chorus B)
(Chorus A until fade)

Disturbed - Stupify (music video)
Description
"Stupify" is Disturbed's first single off their album, The Sickness. When lead singer David Draiman was young, he dated a Latina girl, and her parents never approved of him being of Jewish descent. The song is about racism.[citation needed]
Not many fans know the beginning lines of the song. In the opening David says "Yeah, bringing you another disturbing creation from the mind of one sick animal who can't tell the difference, and gets stupified."[citation needed]
David as well pronounces the word "Tefached" in the song. Tefached means "be afraid" in Hebrew.
The video for the song features the band performing the song in a rusted cellar-like room, interspersed with footage of a young boy sitting in the same room. As the song progresses, the boy is revealed to be haunted by demonlike creatures.
The video makes extensive use of a visual effect commonly called "fast-head", first seen in Jacob's Ladder.
Lyrics
Yeah, bringing you another disturbing creation
from the mind of one sick animal who can't tell the difference
and gets stupified
I've been waiting my whole life for just one
And all I needed was just one
How can you say that you don't give a
I find myself stupified, coming back again
All I wanted was just one
One tiny little innocent
And when I feel like I'm shit out of luck
I find my stupified, coming back again
Why, do you like playing around with
My, narrow scope of reality
I, can feel it all start slipping
I think I'm breaking down
Why, do you like playing around with
My, narrow scope of reality
I, can feel it all start slipping away
See but I don't get it
Don't you think maybe we could put it on credit
Don't you think it can take control when I don't let it
I get stupified
It's all the same you say
Live with it
But I don't get it
Don't you think maybe we could put it on credit
Don't you think it can take control when I don't let it
I get stupified [x2]
All the people in the left wing
And all the people in the right wing
And all the people in the underground
I find myself stupified, coming back again
All the people in the high rise
And all the people in the projects
And all la hente in the bario
I find myself stupified, coming back again
Why, do you like playing around with
My, narrow scope of reality
I, can feel it all start slipping
I think I'm breaking down
Why, do you like playing around with
My, narrow scope of reality
I, can feel it all start slipping away
See but I don't get it
Don't you think maybe we could put it on credit
Don't you think it can take control when I don't let it
I get stupified
It's all the same you say
Live with it
But I don't get it
Don't you think maybe we could put it on credit
Don't you think it can take control when I don't let it
I get stupified [x2]
And don't deny me
No baby now, don't deny me
And darlin' don't be afraid...
But I don't get it
Don't you think maybe we could put it on credit
Don't you think it can take control when I don't let it
I get stupified
Look in my face, stare in my soul
I begin to stupify. Ah! [x4]
Look in my face, stare in my soul [x4]
Look in my face! [x3]
I begin to stupify! Ah!

Eminem Ft. Dido-Stan (video)
Description
"Stan" was the third and final single (after "The Real Slim Shady" and "The Way I Am") released from The Marshall Mathers LP, the second LP from rapper Eminem. The song is perhaps Eminem's most critically-acclaimed song and has been called a 'cultural milestone'.[1] It is also included on Curtain Call: The Hits, performed with Elton John. It is a haunting story of a fan who writes to Eminem but doesn't receive a reply. Unhinged already, the fan (Stan) drives his car off a bridge with his pregnant girlfriend in the trunk. The first three verses are delivered by Stan, with the third being spoken as he is about to drive off a bridge and is recording a cassette to send to Eminem. The fourth verse is Eminem responding to Stan, only realizing at the last second that he has heard about Stan's death as he was writing to him.
The song can also be interpreted as a hit back at Eminem's critics, who accuse him of promoting drugs and violence, because it creates a scenario that clearly shows that his rap lyrics are not meant to be taken literally, "what's this shit you said about you like to cut your wrists too? I say that shit just clownin dogg, c'mon - how fucked up is you?" This theme is repeated throughout his music.
The song was produced by The 45 King and samples "Thank You" by Dido as the chorus.
Lyrics
[Chorus: Dido]
My tea's gone cold I'm wondering why I..
got out of bed at all
The morning rain clouds up my window..
and I can't see at all
And even if I could it'll all be gray,
but your picture on my wall
It reminds me, that it's not so bad,
it's not so bad..
[1st Chorus: volume gradually grows over raindrop background]
[2nd Chorus: full volume with beat right after "thunder" noise]
[Eminem as 'Stan']
Dear Slim, I wrote but you still ain't callin
I left my cell, my pager, and my home phone at the bottom
I sent two letters back in autumn, you must not-a got 'em
There probably was a problem at the post office or somethin
Sometimes I scribble addresses too sloppy when I jot 'em
but anyways; fuck it, what's been up? Man how's your daughter?
My girlfriend's pregnant too, I'm bout to be a father
If I have a daughter, guess what I'ma call her?
I'ma name her Bonnie
I read about your Uncle Ronnie too I'm sorry
I had a friend kill himself over some bitch who didn't want him
I know you probably hear this everyday, but I'm your biggest fan
I even got the underground shit that you did with Skam
I got a room full of your posters and your pictures man
I like the shit you did with Rawkus too, that shit was fat
Anyways, I hope you get this man, hit me back,
just to chat, truly yours, your biggest fan
This is Stan
[Chorus: Dido]
[Eminem as 'Stan']
Dear Slim, you still ain't called or wrote, I hope you have a chance
I ain't mad - I just think it's FUCKED UP you don't answer fans
If you didn't wanna talk to me outside your concert
you didn't have to, but you coulda signed an autograph for Matthew
That's my little brother man, he's only six years old
We waited in the blistering cold for you,
four hours and you just said, "No."
That's pretty shitty man - you're like his fuckin idol
He wants to be just like you man, he likes you more than I do
I ain't that mad though, I just don't like bein lied to
Remember when we met in Denver - you said if I'd write you
you would write back - see I'm just like you in a way
I never knew my father neither;
he used to always cheat on my mom and beat her
I can relate to what you're saying in your songs
so when I have a shitty day, I drift away and put 'em on
cause I don't really got shit else so that shit helps when I'm depressed
I even got a tattoo of your name across the chest
Sometimes I even cut myself to see how much it bleeds
It's like adrenaline, the pain is such a sudden rush for me
See everything you say is real, and I respect you cause you tell it
My girlfriend's jealous cause I talk about you 24/7
But she don't know you like I know you Slim, no one does
She don't know what it was like for people like us growin up
You gotta call me man, I'll be the biggest fan you'll ever lose
Sincerely yours, Stan -- P.S.
We should be together too
[Chorus: Dido]
[Eminem as 'Stan']
Dear Mister-I'm-Too-Good-To-Call-Or-Write-My-Fans,
this'll be the last package I ever send your ass
It's been six months and still no word - I don't deserve it?
I know you got my last two letters;
I wrote the addresses on 'em perfect
So this is my cassette I'm sending you, I hope you hear it
I'm in the car right now, I'm doing 90 on the freeway
Hey Slim, I drank a fifth of vodka, you dare me to drive?
You know the song by Phil Collins, "In the Air of the Night"
about that guy who coulda saved that other guy from drowning
but didn't, then Phil saw it all, then at a a show he found him?
That's kinda how this is, you coulda rescued me from drowning
Now it's too late - I'm on a 1000 downers now, I'm drowsy
and all I wanted was a lousy letter or a call
I hope you know I ripped +ALL+ of your pictures off the wall
I love you Slim, we coulda been together, think about it
You ruined it now, I hope you can't sleep and you dream about it
And when you dream I hope you can't sleep and you SCREAM about it
I hope your conscience EATS AT YOU and you can't BREATHE without me
See Slim; [*screaming*] Shut up bitch! I'm tryin to talk!
Hey Slim, that's my girlfriend screamin in the trunk
but I didn't slit her throat, I just tied her up, see I ain't like you
cause if she suffocates she'll suffer more, and then she'll die too
Well, gotta go, I'm almost at the bridge now
Oh shit, I forgot, how'm I supposed to send this shit out?
[*car tires squeal*] [*CRASH*]
.. [*brief silence*] .. [*LOUD splash*]
[Chorus: Dido]
[Eminem]
Dear Stan, I meant to write you sooner but I just been busy
You said your girlfriend's pregnant now, how far along is she?
Look, I'm really flattered you would call your daughter that
and here's an autograph for your brother,
I wrote it on the Starter cap
I'm sorry I didn't see you at the show, I musta missed you
Don't think I did that shit intentionally just to diss you
But what's this shit you said about you like to cut your wrists too?
I say that shit just clownin dogg,
c'mon - how fucked up is you?
You got some issues Stan, I think you need some counseling
to help your ass from bouncing off the walls when you get down some
And what's this shit about us meant to be together?
That type of shit'll make me not want us to meet each other
I really think you and your girlfriend need each other
or maybe you just need to treat her better
I hope you get to read this letter, I just hope it reaches you in time
before you hurt yourself, I think that you'll be doin just fine
if you relax a little, I'm glad I inspire you but Stan
why are you so mad? Try to understand, that I do want you as a fan
I just don't want you to do some crazy shit
I seen this one shit on the news a couple weeks ago that made me sick
Some dude was drunk and drove his car over a bridge
and had his girlfriend in the trunk, and she was pregnant with his kid
and in the car they found a tape, but they didn't say who it was to
Come to think about, his name was.. it was you
Damn!
